Naostou Parthenos

Parthenon means virgin's apartment. The Parthenon had a dual purpose- to house the great statue of Athena and to serve as a treasury for the tribute money which had been moved from Delos island.Posted by Hello

Greek.

It's Greek to me. It introduces the origin of the Modern Olympiad. Posted by Hello

The statue of George Averof (1867-1930), his response was immediate (two payments totaling 1.920.000 drachmas), assuming financial resposibility for the reconstruction of the Panathenaic stadium, stands in the square at the entrance way.Posted by Hello

Panathinaikon Stadiom

Panathinaikon Stadiom. Built of white marble in the shape of a horseshoe, it stands opposite the National Garden. The first Stadium to be built on this site was constructed of wood in 330 B.C. The marble structure, of which the present day Stadium (Stadio) is a faithful replica, was built by Herodes Atticus. It was used as a venue for the athletic games held during the feast of Panathenaea, hence its name Panathenaikon. The modern Stadium was built between 1869 and 1870 for the first Olympic Games held in modern times in 1896. Posted by Hello

「吾聞之,新沐者必彈冠,新浴者必振衣;
